PIRELLI Sprint Series

For Road Registered & Unregistered Cars
Series Concept / Format
The 2009 Pirelli Pure Speed Sprint Series will be held over 9 rounds at 3 different circuits with the best 5 overall round results counting towards the end of year awards.
Queensland Raceway rounds of the series will include 4 sprints - 2 sprints on the Sprint circuit and 2 sprints on the Clubman circuit at Queensland Raceway.
Lakeside will include 4 full track Sprints. Any combination of rounds will count toward the Series, i.e. it is not compulsory to include a Lakeside round to be eligible for outright honours.
Each sprint will consist of 1 x warm up lap, 5 x timed laps, 1 x cool down / in lap.
The basis of point scoring will be on consistency. All five laps will be electronically timed, the closest three laps in time counting towards individual sprint points (i.e.) drop your two worst laps of each session.
Each session will count towards series points. The competitor with the smallest time margin between each of their closest laps will be placed 1st, next smallest time margin 2nd and so forth down to 14th place. An additional 2 points will be awarded to each competitor if their fastest lap is included within their 3 most consistent.
